About The Artist

Erikah Broadnax, based in Virginia, has been a self-taught oil painter since 2020. She is a visual artist and has been artistically driven from a very young age, using a variety of mediums such as pencils, colored pencils, acrylic paints, clay, and later digital illustration. She attended Virginia State University Art and Design Program for a year, majoring in graphic design, but ultimately decided her calling was traditional art. She has always been passionate about the arts and has always believed that art was her purpose. She has spent the last 4 years perfecting her craft while being a freelance commission artist, helping people by commemorating their memories and loved ones into oil portraits.

A self-taught artist with a knack for details, she is very dedicated to using elements of design, especially scale and composition, in her collages. She dove into art during the pandemic in 2020 as a mental outlet and a way to express her love for music, cinema, and Black culture. She uses her skills to immortalize pieces of Black culture and experiences. Her goal is to continue telling a story through her art and helping people see the beauty in details that are often overlooked.
